What do angels symbolize the nativity?

Angels play a prominent role in the nativity story. Angels are messengers and they constantly brought God's message to men in the nativity story. An angel appeared to Mary to tell her she would conceive of a son, an Angel appeared to Joseph to tell him that Mary was carrying a son from the holy spirit, angels announced the good news of Jesus birth to shepherds. Angels also warned Joseph to take baby Jesus to Egypt, because Herod wanted to kill Jesus.
