Tel Aviv is not mentioned in the Bible, but the neighboring city of Jaffa does feature in the Holy book. Today Jaffa and Tel Aviv are united under the joint municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo. Tel Aviv was established in 1909 as a Jewish suburb of Jaffa. It was originally called Ahuzat Bayit and was renamed Tel Aviv in 1910.
