Does Masada overlook the Dead Sea?

If we were to plan a trip to Masada, would we be able to get to the Dead Sea?

The Masada fort, which king Herold built, is located about 3 miles (5km) east of the Dead Sea in Israel. With its close proximity to the mass of water, it does in fact overlook the Dead Sea, yes.
