Caesarea Philippi was a Roman city at the base of Mount Hermon in northern Israel. The city was named by Philip II after Augustus Caesarea in 14AD.
Caesarea was an ancient Roman port city on Israel’s Mediterranean coast. Herod was responsible for the construction of Caesarea in 22-10/9BC, and he also named his city in honor of Augustus Caesarea.
