Two of Israel’s most prominent religions are Judaism and Islamic. The people who follow these are prohibited from eating any pork products. Israel passed a law in 1962, discontinuing any rearing or slaughtering of pigs. Another law was passed in 1994, banning the importing of non-kosher meat. However, despite this, there are a few pig farms in Christian villages.
