The 609 BC Battle of Megiddo was sparked when Egyptian forces tried to pass through the Kingdom of Judah. The Judaeans refused to let the Egyptians pass, and a battle ensued at Megiddo. The Egyptians prevailed and Judaean King Josiah was killed. The Kingdom of Judah became an Egyptian vassal state.
