Who qualifies for Israeli citizenship?

If you were born in Israel, or at least one of your parents holds Israeli citizenship you are entitled to Israeli citizenship. This is regardless of your religion or where you were born. In addition, any Jew immigrating to Israel automatically becomes an Israeli citizen according to the Law of Return. This includes converts to Judaism, and anyone born to a Jewish mother, the child or grandchild of a Jew, and the spouse of a Jew, or the spouse of a child/grandchild of a Jew. Non-Jews can become Israeli citizens by naturalization if they have legally resided in Israel for at least three of the previous five years, renounce other foreign nationalities, and have basic knowledge of Hebrew.
