Why was Jesus called the Lion of Judah?

Asked 3 years ago

I know Jesus was known as the lion and the lamb, but why was he called the Lion of Judah?

The lion symbol dates back to when Judah was born. Jacob blessed Judah calling him a lion cub and that all Jews will one day bow down to his leadership. Jesus, being born from this bloodline and being the almighty Christ, inherited this title as a symbol of His sovereignty.
