The names Jesus and Immanuel does not have the same meaning. Jesus means “The Lord saves”, and Immanuel means “God is with us”. An angel told Joseph that his son must be named Jesus. The name Immanuel was used in Isaiah 7:14 as a prophecy that was prophesied.
