Jesus vs. Immanuel: Which was Jesus' name?
Do the names Jesus and Immanuel mean the same things? Why does it seem like Jesus was to be named Immanuel but then wasn't?

In Matthew 1:21, we read about the angel telling Joseph that he is going to have a son and they must name him Jesus (The Lord saves). Matthew 1:22-23, talks about the virgin that will birth a son named Immanuel (God is with us), fulfilling the prophecy of Isaiah 7:14.
