In Genesis and Chronicles I Tiras is named as the youngest son of Japheth. Each of Japheth’s sons is represented by a nation. The exact location of Tiras is debatable, but according to the Talmud, Tiras was the name of ancient Persia. Other theories associate biblical Tiras with Turkey, Egypt, and Italy.
