What happened at Paneas during the Bible, and what made it so significant?

Caesarea Philippi was outside of the domain of Herod Antipas, who ruled over Galilee. Jesus and his disciples went there when they need quiet time and there Peter confessed to him: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God”. Now, this ancient city is an archeological site
