St George’s Monastery is a religious site in Jerusalem (Israel). It is located in Wasi Qelt a gorge running between Jerusalem and Jericho. The monastery is carved into a cliff in the northeastern corner of the narrow canyon. Wadi Qelt is believed to be the valley of the shadow of death we read about in Psalm 23.
