Gospel of Matthew: Why did Jesus destroy the Temple in Jerusalem?
Asked 3 years ago
I don't understand why Jesus accused the Israelites inside of thievery and then proceeded to burn the temple down? Why not cleanse the space and keep the temple?

When Jesus cleared the temple, he said he will break down the temple and rebuild it in three days (John 12). The temple Jesus talked about is not the temple building he was standing in but, he revered to his own body (John 12:21), prophesying his crucifixion and resurrection after three days.
