We're going to the holy land! What traditional food do the Israeli eat that you would recommend we try out?

On a trip to Israel try the street food, including hummus, pita bread, shawarma, and falafel. Enjoy Israeli shakshuka for breakfast and try the traditional finely diced "Arabic" salad. In Jerusalem get the mixed grilled meat dish "Me'orav Yerushalmi. And try ethnic foods brought to Israel by Jewish immigrants such as Moroccan fish, Georgian Khachapuri, and Yemenite soup!
