The sight of an eagle rising in flight is so powerful that the image is used often in the Bible. Their characteristics are used as symbols to strengthen ideas expressed in the Bible.

What Does the Eagle Symbolise in the Bible?

There are several different eagle symbols in the bible that all represent different things, and they are:

  • Soaring eagles Bible verses about eagles soaring often symbolize the resurrection of Christ. Rising up on eagles' wings is an image used to show strength and the loving-kindness of God who lifts and carries us.
  • God as an Eagle God lifts man up spiritually. Just as eagles gather their young, God gathered the Israelites and brought them out of Egypt.
  • Revenge Sometimes, eagles can represent the enemy swooping down to take revenge.
