Why was Capernaum exalted to heaven?

Capernaum was exalted by the preaching and miracles Jesus performed there and the fact that He had made Capernaum his home during His Galilee ministry. However, despite all of the blessings afforded Capernaum, the people did not repent. And so Capernaum was ultimately brought down by God.
