We know that Mary was standing by the cross when Jesus was crucified. And with her and other women, there was “a disciple whom Jesus loved”. It was him whom Jesus from the cross said, here is your mother, and before that he said to his mother, Woman, here is your son. It is believed that this disciple was John and he took care of Mary.
