Mount Hermon

Mount Hermon, also known as 'the Snowy Mountain' or 'Har Hermon', is the tallest mountain in Israel and is home to a popular ski resort. Anyone can participate, from beginners to seasoned skiers, and the resort is open from January to March for skiing. The experience of skiing on Mount Hermon is magical and is something we recommend anyone try.

Where Is Mount Hermon?

The Mount Hermon Ski Resort can be found in the Israeli Golan Heights, close to the Israel-Syria border. The mountain itself is the highest in Israel, elevated at 9,292 feet (or 2,814 meters). The resort has a total of 14 ski trails available for use, each around 28 miles (45 kilometers) long. There are nine cable cars at the resort which take skiers to their respective trails.

The Best Time To Travel To Mount Hermon To Ski

The Mount Hermon Ski Resort is open all year round for a plethora of different activities. In summer, you can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, tobogganing, and more. For skiing specifically, winter (typically January to March) is the only time to go. You can also snowboard, sled, and simply ride the cable car.

The resort is open seven days a week in both summer and winter; however, it is weather-dependent in winter. During winter months, the fog and wind may make the pistes too dangerous. High volumes of snowfall could impede driving to the resort and make the slopes too tricky for even experienced skiers. It is best to visit the official website to check-in.

The operating hours of the Mount Hermon Ski Resort (weather permitting) are:

Opening hours: 08:00-16:00 Last vehicle: 15:00 Last climb on cable car: 15:20

Can Anyone Ski On Mount Hermon?

The Mount Hermon ski resort is open for people of all ages and skill levels. The slopes themselves range from some that are pretty easy to manage to some that provide a challenge for those more experienced.

There are lessons available for beginners to learn the basics and more experienced skiers who would like to better their skills. These lessons can be individual or in a group, depending on what you prefer. They also provide you with equipment if you do not have any of your own.

Unforgettable Skiing In Israel

The view from the Mount Hermon resort area is spectacular. Even if you don't intend to ski, you'll find so much to do. There is a nature reserve in the surrounding area where you can enjoy the indigenous flora and fauna after an exhilarating day of skiing, snowboarding, or riding the cable car. This site is a must-see for anyone interested in skiing or simply for those who would like to see snow in the only place in Israel.
