What is the spiritual significance of frankincense & myrrh?

The spiritual interpretation which was made popular in the Christmas carol "We Three Kings" is that each gift is a symbol of important aspects of Jesus life. Gold represents kingship, frankincense represents priestly role and myrrh represents his death and embalming.
